About Ruth Gonzalez

Ruth Gonzalez
Hometown:
Asheville, NC
Gardening Experience:
Expert
About Me:
I have recently moved from Madison County to Asheville, and am still adjusting to the shift from 50 acres of space to a postage stamp size yard. Luckily for me, my good neighbors let me plant a vegetable garden in their yard. I garden organically throughout my yard and veggie garden. I am a NC Certified Plant Professional, and in the past I have been a market farmer. I currently work at Reems Creek Nursery with a special interest in fruit trees, roses, trees & shrubs, and organic gardening.
Favorite Plants:
I love food plants & herbs since I love to eat. I work at Reems Creek Nursery which makes my very fickle regarding favorite plants. Every week something new and enticing captures my attention. I don't think it's possible to have too many Japanese maples. I love flowers and greenery that can be cut to make arrangements to enjoy indoors. I like to plant plenty of cosmos and zinnias in the summer.
Garden as a hobby?
Yes

That's great, Ruth. And I'm looking for blog posts, as I said. I can pull them to the front of the site. The forum is supposed to be for posting and answering gardening questions. Blogs are your personal observations, like of like an online garden journal. Welcome to the conversation! This has been so much fun.

I bought a Confederate Jasmine last year knowing it would not be hardy here, HOWEVER it lived through the winter in a pot on my front stoop. I can't wait until it blooms again.
