Janice, yes I did receive your reply, and thanks so much! I too am a novice at using this web site so I hope I am responding correctly. I did add you as a friend as well but don't know how that works either but I figure we will learn. I read on a website that bee balm comes in red, white and lilac. The lavender plant I have must be the "lilac" color. I would be glad to send you some babies if you tell me how to get them. I think I have to wait until the plant finishes blooming? When you say to deadhead them, do you mean to cut off the bloom? I see lots of new growth along the stems below the existing blooms so do I cut just above those? I guess when they finish blooming I will have to transfer them to the ground since the plants already look pretty large. Do you have any suggestions as to where they would do best once in the ground? Thanks so much for your help, this is fun!

Janice, I read with great interest that you enjoy growing bee balm. I have had two plants for about two years that have never bloomed but just kept growing in pots. Finally, this summer they are blooming and are they ever beautiful! I didn't know I had purchased two different colors but one plant is the typical red and the other looks to be a pale lavender. Since they have never bloomed before I don't know whether I should be cutting back the spent blooms or even if I can cut some for vase flowers. The plants are quite tall and stalky, between 3 - 4 feet tall. I kept them in pots even over winter outside so imagine my excitement this year when they began blooming. I was hoping you could provide to me some of your experience with bee balm as to what I should do to keep them blooming and healthy. Thanks so much!
