About Me:
I'm a 40-something mom with 4 kids, 3 cats, 2 birds, and 1 insecure/psycho dog.

We built a house 7 years ago but couldn't afford any landscaping. For the first two years, my husband worked on building a retaining wall and grading a flat spot in the backyard for a swingset. Then, someone we knew from church helped us design a landscape plan that we could implement over several years. We started by laying a little sod ourselves and then started to add plants.

I was never interested in gardening and have terrible childhood memories of mowing my parents and grandparents yards, in the humid 100 degree summer heat of Nebraska, with mosquitoes feasting on my skin... it was miserable!!! It was incomprehensible to me that someone could actually enjoy working outside in their yard!

Then it hit me... some long-lost gene from my farming grandparents suddenly kicked in three years ago. I started to plant a few things and discovered that I enjoyed it! That led to numerous trips to garden centers as I tried to narrow down the list of plants I wanted. I was actually having fun... I had become an official gardener!

Unfortunately, I still have a lot to learn about caring for plants. Many of my plants have not survived. Others are alive but are not flourishing. My goal now is to learn about fertilizing, pruning, soil enrichment, etc. so that I can improve the health of my garden.

Please wish me well!

Hey, the garden looks pretty shabby right now. The roses if any are being devoured by beetles and the draught is taking a toll. I go away for about a week and a half, maybe you could come by in July? Or if you would prefer to wait until it cools and the flowers come back, just let me know. Sally

My blue garden gets .... not full sun, but about 4 hours of it. The thing about gardening is you never stop learning. Just dig in!
