Mulch 101
Yard Smarts gives info on the benefits of mulch. I especially appreciate their comment on using about 2 - 3 inches of mulch around your plants. There sometimes tends to be a tendency for gardeners to use a deeper depth of mulch around plants because they feel it may be beneficial. You want water to reach your plants roots, not just the wet the mulch on top of the plant.

I've been told by most of the local mulch companies that they will have to raise the price of their mulch due to gas prices etc. I'm trying to freshen up the mulch in my own yard. This week is suppose to be hotter than normal and I'm getting the mulch down as fast as I can.
