Ralph Coffey is an undisputed expert orchid grower. The owner of Whitegate Inn, you should just SEE his greenhouse. I have, when I had an opportunity to interview him for a story a few years ago.

He's also an active member of the Men's Garden Club of Asheville, and he'll give a talk at the club's next meeting. See below:

The Men’s Garden Club presents a program titled “Why does my orchid do that?”

Asheville’s noted orchid expert, Dr. Ralph Coffey, will talk about care and nurturing of orchids. He invites attendees to bring their orchid plants to the program to evaluate their health and make suggestions about their proper care and maintenance.

Ralph Coffey’s long time hobby of growing and developing numerous varieties of orchids is visibly displayed in the greenhouse at White Inn and Cottage, a bed and breakfast of which Dr. Coffey is co-owner.

The public is invited to attend the program on October 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the Botanical Center of Asheville, 151 W.T.Weaver Blvd. Admission is free. Refreshments are served.
