Mystery Plant, Help!

Anyone know what kind of plant this is? It's so huge. This is what it looks like in September. In the winter it dies back to hollow bamboo like canes that aren't very strong. They all get knocked down usually by a late winter wind, I've been collecting the canes but I'm not sure if they are strong enough to really build anything useful with them. In the spring it sends up new shoots/canes.

If it's not edible, it…

How we built our coldframe

Well first we dug these cinder blocks out of the future blueberry beds. We dug them out beyond the bed area as well. There were 32 in all and we are pretty sure they used to be part of the ancient septic systems leach field because they led us to the tank.

We removed a rhododendron from in front of the south facing foundation wall beneath our front porch, dug out the roots and set it all out to dry for fire wood. We…

Greetings to all...

Anyone know what this large shrub is called? This is the flowers in the late spring and early summer. It has long thorn on the branches and made hard round green fruits in the fall. The shrub is about 7 ft high and 12 or more feet in diameter. So about me: I have had a pretty…

We are located 4 miles outside Canton, NC. Shitake logs need a shady place and to be watered once weekly if you don't get any natural rain. They can be kept in a greenhouse in the winter if you want them to produce a bit faster. I have a care pamplet I can email you if you give me your email address. We also can deliver sometimes if we are coming that way or if the order is for several logs.
