- I recently moved to Asheville from Seattle. Gardening is a whole different ballgame here. And ooooo, the bugs here! Don't get me started on the bugs!

- Mostly edible plants. I'm working on building an edible yard with cherry bushes, two cherry trees, a Japanese plum and an heirloom apple tree..
I tried planting two Chinquapins. They are small nut bushes that were very common in this area. They died almost immediately. Unfortunately, they're very susceptible to hot temperatures and wet weather. I'm guessing climate change has brought much warmer temperatures to this area and you can only find them in much higher elevations. I replaced them with cherry bushes, the same kind that are growing in Asheville's Edible Park.
