I would put them in full sun (6 - 8 hrs), with well drained soil. I amend my soil with Nature's Helper. Be sure to water your roses every day for about two weeks to get them established. Most roses will want about an inch of water/rain a week. I would water the base off the roses to avoid splashing water on the leaves. Many roses are notorious for getting black spot. If you see black spot on the leaves, I would remove the leaves immediately to avoid spreading. The diseased leaves should be removed from the base of the plant also. Lastly, I put about two inches on mulch around the plant, but not touching it. This helps the plant tremendously. When I prune roses, I sanitize my pruners before moving on to the next plant so I don't spread any problems.
I had one for more than 10 years. Kept it in a pot. Finally died with a late freeze this year, much to my dismay. But basically you treat them like any other rose. Trim them back between blooms, of course. GTG's advice is spot on here.
