Garden Asheville

I have Cherokee Purple heritage tomatoes that grow very well until about 24" and then they wilt as if the soil is dry. The soil is not dry. What is happening and what can be done?

I was going to suggest that the problem might be fusarium or verticillium wilt, but sources online state that this heirloom variety is resistant to the former.  I'd suggest taking a picture and taking to the local extension service office, or call their helpline number to ask and get assistance from the master gardeners in house.  Good luck.
