Garden Asheville

I've found buying native plants a challenge, but nevertheless rewarding.  Last year I stumbled upon the Carolina Native Nursery in Burnesville.  Catchy webpage name:

http://www.carolinanativenursery.com/  While they do mostly a wholesale business, they are open on Fridays by appointment only for retail clients.  When I called and said I was going to be coming through Burnesville on a Thursday they said fine.

Another nursery I'd read and heard about but was never able to visit is We-Du, or Meadowbrook Nursery off of I-85 in Marion.  I finally managed to get there for the first time yesterday and what a great place it is.  Check em out at http://www.we-du.com/  I'll be going back.

Both places have a plant list on line.  Carolina Native is almost entirely shrubbery, while We-Du has both perennials and shrubs.  Both are about an hour's drive from Asheville, but in pretty much opposite directions.  If you like to garden with natives, both are worth a visit.
