Plants for full shade

I have an area that gets no more than an hour of filtered sun each day.  I want to do some simple planting, nothing small or expensive as it measures about 30 X 10.
In California I relied on Agapanthus and Acanthus, both great growers that take almost no care.
Ferns,will be fine.
Some hosta, and liriope may do well.
There is a new hardy agapanthus.

Has anyone tried growing acanthus here?  (Bear's Breach)

Any other suggestions appreciated.  Nothing small or dainty, requiring a lot of care and  no ivies.
There is adequate water.
