moon plant help

I am getting ready to start germinating seeds for some moon plants to put outside my house this year but have never worked with them. I was hoping for some suggestions about the best way to germinate the plants indoors, get them rooted and growing before placing them outside. We are also thinking about doing them as hanging plants along our car port but wasnt sure if they would do well this way. Any suggestions, recommendations??

Thanks for the insight, Mike. I think the size of the pot was the difference as mine was much smaller than a half wine barrel, and when I disassembled the planter at the end of the season it was quite root bound. Next year a bigger pot.
