Geraniums

I bought some geraniums last year to put in the kitchen window box.  I loved them so much that at the end of the summer I put them in some 2 gallon pots and they are overwintering in the walk out basement next to the door.  Thriving, too.

I read somewhere a suggestion to take cuttings and root them.  Will this work with geraniums?  I've taken cuttings from forsythia and butterfly bush, but never something tender like a geranium.
