Permalink Reply by Ted Blackwood on February 22, 2011 at 11:09pm If you love carrots, use a raised bed system. 1/3 compost, 1/3 course vermiculite, and 1/3 peat moss. I followed this recipe from the square foot gardener. A revolutionary book for home gardening in my opinion.
The carrots were awesome and better yet, so easy to pull! We also did not have to rinse and rinse and rinse our greens since there was no clay to stick to the leaves. I'm going to plant some spinach next week in a few squares and see what happens!
