Can anyone give me some ideas on how to control the sprouts extending around a Cottonwood tree? They are sprouting up everywhere. Will spraying the sprouts with Roundup damage the tree? It is huge. Thanks for your input.

I am really concerned that Roundup would, indeed, damage the tree. Cut off the sprouts. Get out the loppers if you need to.
You can contact the makers of RoundUp for more info or check out their website. I agree with Polly--chop them down to the ground.
I killed a cherry tree using Round Up on the sprouts. Cutting would probably be safer.
Definitely, do not spray the sprouts with Roundup. Those leaves are supported by the same root-mass that supports the whole tree. You could kill the tree quite easily.
