Garden Asheville

I just noticed that a number of branches on these trees have recently developed a "dry brown' appearance. I've heard that this is some type of canker? My neighbor says that the trees need to be totally destoyed and can't be saved . they are beautiful shrubs and i hate to lose them. can anyone suggest a way to save them?

Hi Mark,

I read your posting and got worried...I have quite a few leyland cypresses. I found an article online I felt was interesting and helpful. The author mentions prolonged drought and the effect that has on promoting stress induced diseases.

Have you called the Master gardeners yet? I think they are in tomorrow am at 828-255-5522. If the moss posting is yours they can help you with that. My moss stays green year 'round.
